Bahboony - Anatomy of a bottle tree
This painting reflects the view from underneath a Queensland bottle tree (brachychiton rupestris). This view looks up through the branches of the tree to the stars and the Southern Cross. This view and this painting speak to the many silent, unspoken and unheard Gunggari stories traditionally associated with the trees that have come to symbolise the Maranoa region. It also speaks to our shared stories of death and life.
